I am a serial entrepreneur working at the intersection of neuroscience, artificial intelligence, and deep tech, with a long-term focus on brain–computer interfaces and neurotechnology.
My technical foundation spans engineering, computer science, and neuroscience.
I received my B.Eng. in Mechatronic Engineering from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) and my M.S. in Computer Science from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. This background shaped how I approach complex problems—starting from physical constraints and system architecture, rather than isolated algorithms or components.
Over the past decade, I have built companies across SaaS, O2O platforms, and frontier neurotechnology.
In 2019, the company I founded, Keruyun, was acquired by Alibaba Group in a transaction of approximately USD 140 million, after which I joined Alibaba’s Local Services Group as SVP.
In 2021, I co-founded NeuroXess, where we helped advance some of China’s earliest clinical human trials of electrical BCIs (ECoG), including motor decoding and speech decoding.
These experiences led me to a fundamental conviction: The brain is not a collection of modular parts, but a system whose intelligence emerges at the whole-brain level—greater than the sum of its components.
Based on this belief, I founded Gestala in 2026. Gestala is building a new generation of brain–computer interfaces based on ultrasound phased-array technology, with the goal of enabling whole-brain read/write and system-level neuromodulation.
In parallel with entrepreneurship, I remain deeply engaged in academia. I am currently a PhD researcher in Neuroscience at Fudan University, and PI at Tianfu JC Laboratory working on motor intention, neuromodulation, and closed-loop modeling of multimodal brain signals with AI.
A question has consistently guided my work:
If we truly understand how the brain can be read from and written to, how will the boundary between intelligence and consciousness change?
At Gestala, I care most about:
• whether ultrasound can become a general-purpose physical interface for next-generation BCIs
• how engineering, clinical practice, and basic science can co-evolve within a single organization
• whether AI should not only emulate intelligence, but be constrained and shaped by biological neural systems
I believe that the brain and AI are two sides of the same coin—each illuminating the other.
